As custodians of the land here at Westerlands, our mission is to leave the place better than we found it, and we care deeply about looking after nature. We’re really pleased to invite people to come and share in the benefit nature gives us, and with a proud equine history we want to see as many horses as possible come on holiday here!
As part of the International Dark Sky Reserve (along with the South Downs National Park) if you’re in to stargazing at all this is the perfect place to come and stay.

Contact us to arrange Beach Rides, Pub Rides, and riding in The South Downs National Park.
We welcome you to bring your own horse on holiday or alternatively we have our own horses and ponies available to ride.
Facilities include a grass arena, small gallops, and trekking. Jojo our equestrian manager and ex GP Showjumper, can offer lessons in the grass arena.
If you want to hack around the farm, we have over 500 acres to explore without the need to ride on any main roads.
Please note a maximum weight for our current horses is 15.5 Stone.

At Westerlands we are passionate about “being better for nature.” We are a working-regenerative-diversifying farm, caring deeply about the land we are lucky enough to hold. It is a beautiful and peaceful place to be and we would love to share this with you. If you are a stargazer, we are certainly a place for you to visit, as Westerlands holds a dark sky at night reserve status.
We offer many different properties at Westerlands, from shepherds huts, to a 6 bedroom family home.

We have 9 properties available that can sleep from 2 – 11 people:
Shepherds Hut
Aspen Leaves
Wooden Cabin
Timber Country (New for Summer 2023!)
The Hideaway
The Annex
Barn Cottage
Lower Barn House

Equestrian accommodation:
Stable (Please note our herd live out 24/7 so your horse may be the only one in over night).
Grazing (We keep guest horses separate from our own herds).
Please bring all provisions needed for your horse or we can recommend local stores nearby that sell bedding/feed to pick up on the way/once here.

From April-October we have Woodfire Campsite cooking up the most wonderful meals over open fires in our field.
An experience not to miss if staying with us over the weekend or in the school holidays.

Coming Summer 2023 we have our Horsebox Trailer operating from site, offering wonderful hot drinks, milkshakes, and snacks to purchase.
