The Farm

Trefewha Farm consists of 50 acres nestled in the beautiful West Cornwall countryside, sitting on the edge of the village of Praze-An-Beeble with direct access to the bridleway network (see map). Farm tracks meander between fields and the land extends out from the farmhouse and stables at its heart. The River Beeble forms its Southerly border and runs alongside our majestic “Enchanted” woodland and “Rustic and Secluded” Wild Camping meadow.

Easy to find and with good access and turning for lorries and trailers of any size, you’ll park overlooking our stunning 60m x 40m all-weather arena with full set of show jumps, dressage markers and instruction/group bookings and clinics available to book separately. In addition to camping, there are three beautifully spaced out and discreetly sited holiday caravans to choose from, plus rooms in the traditional farm cottage that is situated opposite the stables.

Open and friendly, the farm is blessed with panoramic views out towards St Ives. Having recently been put into Countryside Stewardship – a wildlife conservation plan – there is no “active” farming going on. Around 65% of the total land is in the process of being turned into true Cornish wildflower meadow for the benefit of birds, insects, mice, badger and deer and all the other wildlife that one can encounter in this region.

Run by Mary and Clare Gwennap who have worked with and enjoyed horses and ponies all their lives; the farm is still home to their much-loved horses, Snac, Brio and Woody.
Clare and Mary will give you a heartfelt welcome to visit and enjoy this “amazing space”, which also plays host to Educational Visits, craft and community events; and Nature Connects well-being sessions. All these “hidden gem” locations on the farm are available for you to visit, explore and relax in during your stay. You can even book a massage or kinesiology session in the Clinic Room of the farm house!

The Location

In the pictures section you will see a map showing bridleways (solid green) and byways (dark red) that are all within riding distance, allowing a countryside exploration off the farm and hours of wonderful hacking through this quaint and rural area. The famous ‘Great Flat Lode’ is only 3.5 miles away – starting at the King Edward mine near Troon, Camborne TR14 9HW – this is a multi use 7.5 mile trail that runs through the historical tin mining area of Carn Brea, taking in stunning views of the coast and winding past the old Engine Houses.

The farm is just a 20 minute box to the beaches of Gwithian and Godrevy (5.5 miles away) – to the north of the breath-taking expanse of sand known as St Ives Bay. Gallop for miles along vast sandy beaches, dipping in and out the water as you please. Great for the mind, soul and body of both you and the horses!

You are also within a 20 minute drive of key attractions including St Michaels Mount, St Ives, Penzance, Praa Sands, Porthtowan, Helston (home of the Floral Dance), Stithians Lake, Poldark Mine and many more!!

The Campsite: “Mushroom Meadow”

Only 6 spacious plots in this wonderful campsite allow for perfect peace and calm. Surrounded by trees on all sides, its southern edge follows the River Beeble and to the east you’ll enter the private ‘Enchanted Woodland’ with its trails and ‘hidden’ fire pit by the stream.
Off-grid electrically, it has two composting toilets and a hot shower, as well as mains water and a firepit for your use. Typically frequented by couples or small families, it’s a great place for those looking to really get back to a natural rhythm for the time they stay with us.

Static Caravans: “Pemberton”, “Owls Nest” and “Eden”

Allowing for up to 6, 4 or 2 guests respectively, these delightfully presented and well equipped static caravans have captivating views which capture all the serenity of the land while offering the amenities of modern living. They have fully furnished kitchens, shower rooms, gas central heating, double glazing and well proportioned rooms with plenty of space to hang and store your clothes and belongings. They each have BBQs on their own decking and/or garden areas and outdoor seating. They are sensibly spaced out so guests get a real sense of having their own place to fully relax and enjoy.

“Pemberton” mainly attracts families or larger groups of 4 or more – it has its own large decking area, sun loungers and ample private parking. Its perhaps the most easily accessible as well.

“Owls Nest” is the newest addition to Trefewha Farm and boasts a 7 acre field and re-wilding area as its back garden. It has been purposely kitted out for those wanting to “switch off” or “disconnect”. Instead of TV and wifi, we have opted to provide inspirational and engaging books and games. But you still have a fully equipped kitchen, open plan living and dining area, a bathroom and 2 bedrooms. This one is perfect for a couple or a couple and one or 2 children (we can also provide a travel cot if needed).

“Eden” is a home from home – perhaps the most luxurious of the 3 statics. Aimed at the discerning single or couple that like a bit of comfort – it provides incredible value for its price. It has wrap around decking which over-looks the horses fields and the Arena, its own private garden and pond and beautifully appointed living space including an en-suite master bedroom. Eden is only available to book from 1 May – 31 October.

With its own private entrance, this suite of rooms comprises a double bedroom, a second bedroom with a pair of single beds, a breakfast bar area with microwave etc and dedicated large bathroom / shower room and toilet. Airy and cool in the summer and cosy in the winter while also being private this is a highly rated retreat.

All our accommodation offers truly excellent value.
